The actor has explained her intentions after sharing comments about Charlie Kirk's death.
Mamma Mia! star Amanda Seyfried has provided further clarification regarding her remarks on Charlie Kirk's death.
The 39-year-old used social media to express how 'hateful' the 31-year-old was after it was reported that he was killed while responding to questions at a Turning Point USA event on Wednesday (September 10).
Two days after Kirk's death, authorities apprehended and charged 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, from Utah, with seven counts, including aggravated murder and witness tampering.
After his passing, Seyfried remarked on Kirk’s political views in an Instagram post discussing his opinions on abortion, immigration, LGBTQIA+ rights, and other divisive issues, commenting: "He was hateful."
The Mean Girls actress also posted on her social media, which some believed was related to Kirk's death.
The post included a quote that stated: "You can't invite violence to the dinner table and be shocked when it starts eating."

In response to the backlash over her previous comment and repost, Seyfried explained her intentions.
She took to Instagram, sharing a statement with the caption: "I don't want to add fuel to a fire. I just aim to clarify something that was irresponsibly (but understandably) taken out of context. Spirited discourse—shouldn't we be engaging in that?"
The statement said: "We're losing sight of the nuances of humanity. I can be outraged by misogyny and racist rhetoric while also fully agreeing that Charlie Kirk's murder was deeply disturbing and deplorable in every conceivable way.
"No one should endure this level of violence. This country is mourning too many senseless and violent deaths and shootings.
"Can we at least agree on that?"
Seyfried is not the only celebrity who has faced criticism for her comments following Kirk's death.

Batman's Michael Keaton encountered criticism for his remarks on the 'irony' of Kirk being killed by a gun, given his previous statements against gun control.
"Before we delve into the main topic, I want to take a moment to acknowledge that, despite my disagreements with many things he said, Charlie Kirk leaves behind two children and a wife," the actor stated at the beginning of his speech.
"Because ultimately, shooting people will never solve anything, and the irony of him being killed by a gun is astonishing."
Meanwhile, Ava Raine, the daughter of WWE legend Dwayne Johnson, faced some online criticism for sharing a post that some perceived as a reaction to Kirk's death.
