Following the peace summit, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto took the opportunity to discuss business with President Trump

President Donald Trump was inadvertently recorded on a hot mic speaking with the Indonesian leader, who requested to talk to his sons about a 'not safe' location in Indonesia.

As world leaders convened in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, for a summit aimed at achieving lasting peace in Gaza, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto was heard speaking to the Republican president, inquiring if he could be connected with his children.

The pair appeared unaware that the mic was still on and capturing their exchange.

"I would like to," Subianto begins, before mentioning a region that is 'not safe, security-wise'.

Trump then replies to him, though with his back to the microphone, prompting Subianto to ask: "Can I meet Eric?"

The 79-year-old POTUS replies: "I'll have Eric call you. Should I do that? He's such a good boy. I'll have Eric call."

While the exact nature of their conversation remains unclear, Eric, the New Yorker's son, is the Executive Vice President of the family business, the Trump Organization, along with his brother Donald Jr, who holds the same position.

Their conversation continued with Subianto leaning towards Trump and muttering something, then saying: "Yeah, yeah. I told [inaudible] also... We'll look for a better place."

Trump then asks Subianto to inform him when something is arranged, to which the Indonesian responds: "Okay. Yeah, yeah. Eric or Don Jr."

The American replies: "You're fantastic. I'll have one of them call you, thank you my friend. I appreciate that you told me."

Although it's unclear what exactly they were discussing, the Trump Organization launched its first resort in Indonesia in March - a luxury golf club in partnership with a local company.

Meanwhile, a resort in Bali is listed on the company's website as 'coming soon'.

The conversation between the two raised concerns among some people on social media.

"OH MY GOD: Trump and Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto were overheard on a hot mic discussing a potential deal, with Subianto asking to speak with Trump's sons, Eric and Don Jr, who are not government officials. Did we just witness a major crime?" one user speculated on Twitter.

Another user commented: "If that recording is authentic, it’s highly concerning.

Blending political influence with private business interests crosses ethical boundaries and obscures accountability. Even the appearance of such conduct undermines trust in governance and international diplomacy."

However, one user downplayed allegations of any misconduct.

"It's widely known that Subianto wants a Trump Hotel resort in Indonesia. He's publicly stated this," they explained.

"Trump acted appropriately by stating he was not involved and referred the matter to the co-presidents of the Trump Organization - Eric and Don Jr. Simply speaking is now considered a major crime!!! OMG!!!"
