The president acknowledged that the Oval Office can even make foreign leaders 'freak out'

People have been commenting on the same observation after Donald Trump revealed his '24 Karat Gold' Oval Office.

It's well-known what the president's favorite color is, given that the expansive White House estate has undergone a lavish transformation since his return to office in January, featuring gold-plated opulence to the extreme.

Fixtures, fittings, picture frames, ornaments, trinkets, and other flashy embellishments adorn every corner of the Oval Office, while Trump envisions a similar style for a new $200 million ballroom.

Defending his decor choices, Trump remarked: "There’s nothing like gold, and there’s nothing like solid gold," as he attempted to persuade FIFA President Gianni Infantino to 'keep' the original FIFA trophy in the office.

Although his attempt to retain the 'OG' golden trophy was unsuccessful, the POTUS has now amassed quite the collection, reportedly even having his own expert flown in on Air Force One to apply the gilded touches in a style similar to his Mar-a-Lago residence.

Now, he seems quite pleased with the appearance, proudly stating on social media that the Oval Office and Cabinet Room feature 'some of the highest quality 24 Karat Gold.'

Posting video clips of his golden decorations and sparkling awards, Trump commented on his Truth Social platform: "Foreign Leaders, and everyone else, 'freak out' when they see the quality and beauty.

"Best Oval Office ever, in terms of success and look!!!"

However, the grand unveiling hasn't gone over well with his critics, who highlight a stark contrast to the opulent HQ - the rest of the US is burdened with significant debts.

According to the latest Fiscal Data, the US national debt stands at an astonishing $37.47 trillion.

The amount has surged following several historic events, notably the two world wars, Afghanistan and Iraq wars, the 2008 Great Recession, and the Covid-19 pandemic, ultimately raising the debt from $395 billion in 1924 to $35.46 trillion a century later.

Many Americans have been highlighting the contrast between the luxurious appearance of the White House and the challenges they encounter with purchasing groceries, housing, and healthcare.

"I don't know who needs to hear this, but this style is unAmerican," remarked one person in response to Trump's decor. "Gold fixtures like these are seen in Versailles or St. Petersburg, designed to flaunt the wealth of the King or Tsar."

"It reveals a lot about how the White House perceives its own Presidency."

Another added: "He doesn’t care about that [the national debt]. To him, it’s all a show of power.

"'Look at all my gold. Pay attention to me.' He is indifferent to America, the debt, or the American people.

"Trump is putting on a show for his billionaire friends and the world's dictators."

A third person commented: "Why isn't his MAGA base angry at him for this kind of nonsense? He's bragging about flashy decorations and a ballroom nobody wanted while gas and grocery prices rise, farmers are struggling, we distance ourselves from allies but rescue Argentina?"

The 79-year-old previously mentioned the room needed 'a little life' after his predecessor Joe Biden, but admitted it's been challenging to make gold paint resemble real gold.

A White House spokesperson also confirmed that the gold, 'of the highest quality', has been entirely funded by Trump, while the enhancements led Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt to call it a 'golden office for the golden age.'
