Not everyone is thrilled with Apple's new iOS 26...

Apple has introduced another iOS update that hasn't been well-received.

The latest iPhone operating system, iOS 26, was launched on September 15, and it appears that users are regretting updating their devices.

In fact, regret is so widespread that searches for 'how to downgrade iOS 26 to 18' have surged by 335 percent, reported Phone Arena.

Unfortunately, there's no way to undo the upgrade and return to iOS 18. However, you can disable certain features you might not prefer.

One feature that some iPhone users are dissatisfied with is the new 'Liquid Glass' effect.

This distinctive design 'reflects and refracts its surroundings [like glass] while dynamically transforming to enhance focus on content', according to Apple.

Fortunately, this is one of the features you can disable.

Liquid Glass

To disable this feature, go to 'Accessibility' in settings, then navigate to 'Display and Text'.

Although you can't completely switch off Liquid Glass, you can decrease its transparency.

Call Screening

This feature is considered one of the less intrusive new additions, but some users may prefer not to have call screening on their phones. With this option, your iPhone can ask a caller from an unknown number for more information about themselves and the reason for their call before your device rings.

Alternatively, you can set unknown numbers to be automatically directed to voicemail.

If you enjoy the mystery of an unknown number calling, go to settings, apps, and then phone. From there, access the 'Screen Unknown Callers' tab and select 'Never' to disable it.

Conversation backgrounds

You can now customize your iMessage backgrounds to be more exciting than the standard plain white.

However, if one person changes the background, it will be altered for everyone in the conversation.

If you prefer the classic iMessage appearance, you can go to settings and turn off this feature under 'Conversation Backgrounds'.

Spatial effect

This new option introduces a 3D effect to your photos, making your wallpapers more dynamic.

Some users find this aspect of the iOS 26 update enjoyable, while others favor a 2D background.

If you are among those who don't like 3D backgrounds, simply press your lock screen, select 'Customize', and a hexagon icon will appear to disable this feature, says Indy100.
