The actress struggled to hold back tears while speaking on Marc Maron's WTF podcast
Jamie Lee Curtis has shared insightful comments regarding the murder of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, noting the potential impact on our psyche from watching viral videos of the incident.
On September 10, 31-year-old Kirk was shot and killed during an outdoor speaking event at an educational institution in Utah.
The FBI reports that the investigation into his assassination is still ongoing.
In a recent interview with Marc Maron on his WTF podcast, Knives Out actress Jamie Lee Curtis criticized the shooting of Kirk at Utah Valley University.
“I’m going to bring something up with you just because it’s front of mind,” the Freakier Friday star said on the episode, released on Sunday (September 15).
She then mistakenly referred to the Turning Point USA founder as ‘Charlie Crist’, explaining it was an error due to his ‘deep, deep belief’ in religion.

"I disagreed with him on nearly every point he made, yet I believe he was a man of faith. I hope that in his final moments, he felt connected to his faith," Curtis continued.
"Even though I found his ideas repugnant, I still recognize him as a father, a husband, and a man of faith. I hope that whatever connection to God means, he felt it."
Holding back tears, the 66-year-old acknowledged the existence of a video showing his assassination circulating online, and mentioned knowing people who had viewed it.
"Yesterday [on 9/11], we once again witnessed those images of the buildings collapsing. Today, as a society, we are inundated with imagery. We don't know the long-term effects of repeatedly seeing those towers fall or watching his execution over and over again."

She remarked: “We lack sufficient psychological understanding of the impact. What effect does it have? I never want to watch the footage of this man being shot.”
Curtis is not the only celebrity to publicly acknowledge the passing of Kirk, with Marvel actor Chris Pratt, former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Jake Paul taking the lead.
Former US presidents Barack Obama and Joe Biden also issued statements, with Biden stating there was ‘no place in our country for this kind of violence’.
“It must end now. Jill and I are praying for Charlie Kirk’s family and loved ones,” Biden added, mentioning his wife of 48 years, Jill Biden.
Former Vice President Kamala Harris expressed she was ‘deeply disturbed’ by the fatal shooting in Utah and that she ‘condemned the act’.
Investigators have arrested and identified 22-year-old Tyler Robinson as the suspect in Kirk’s death.

Less than 48 hours after the tragedy, the Utah native was taken into custody and has allegedly been uncooperative with law enforcement, as stated by state Governor Spencer Cox.
FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino mentioned that there were ‘multiple warning signs’ exhibited by Robinson prior to the shooting, and the agency is examining whether the incident was ‘part of a larger effort’.
