A 51-year-old woman from Morecambe, Lancashire, has been informed she has only months to live after mistaking her serious symptoms for side effects of Mounjaro.

Dawn Clegg had been using the injections for their intended purpose, to manage her diabetes, but by March this year, she began experiencing chest pains.

Believing these were simply part of the Mounjaro experience, she dismissed these health issues until they became overwhelming.

That's when A&E doctors made a devastating discovery.

According to The Sun, Dawn underwent several X-rays, which revealed shadows on her lungs, breast, and kidneys.

She was diagnosed with soft tissue cancer (also known as sarcoma) and was then told she had less than 12 months to live.

Arron Clegg plans to organize a 'living wake' for his wife Dawn in a few months.

Her husband, Arron Clegg, is planning to organize a 'living wake' this November.

"We were devastated to hear about the cancer in these areas - there is no cure, and she is now terminal," he stated.

"The wake will allow her to spend quality time with friends and family while she is still alive, rather than after the funeral, so she can see how much people care about her."

The receptionist's living wake will be followed by a funeral at Lancaster and Morecambe Crematorium, where Dawn will be laid to rest near her late daughter Isobel, who passed away during childbirth.

Dr. Jack Ogden of The Lagom Clinic, who has witnessed similar heartbreaking cases where cancer patients mistook their life-threatening symptoms for mere jab side effects, told the publication: "As a clinician, hearing about cases like this is always sobering.

"It highlights how easy it is for both patients and healthcare professionals to attribute symptoms to the most obvious cause. In this case, weight loss injections, when something more serious may be underlying."

"Monitoring ongoing symptoms, keeping a record of side effects, and seeking immediate medical attention for any unusual occurrences is crucial," stated Dr. Ogden.

Ana Carolina Goncalves, a superintendent pharmacist, mentioned that heartburn, abdominal pain, and persistent indigestion, which are associated with weight loss injections, might be concealing a more serious issue: liver, bladder, or stomach cancer.

"Swelling of the thyroid or a lump in the neck could be mistaken for a side effect of the injection, but it might also signal thyroid cancer," she cautioned.

"The manufacturers of both Mounjaro and Wegovy have acknowledged the risk of thyroid swelling as a potential side effect. Additionally, nausea, another common side effect of weight loss injections, can also be a sign of liver, bladder, or pancreatic cancer.

"There is significant overlap between the symptoms of various organ cancers (such as liver and pancreatic cancer) because they affect similar body regions.

"This overlap can complicate the identification of cancer symptoms, particularly when the side effects of weight loss injections are present."

When asked for a statement, Eli Lilly, the producer of Mounjaro, told UNILAD: "Mounjaro (tirzepatide) should only be used when prescribed by a licensed healthcare professional, and prescriptions should be filled and provided by registered pharmacies or providers. We urge patients to talk to their doctor or another healthcare professional about any potential side effects they might be experiencing and to confirm they are receiving authentic Lilly medication."
