Concerns about WW3 arise amid heightened global tensions

A report has identified some of the safer countries to live in should World War Three occur.

International political tensions have been notably high in recent years, naturally leading to fears that World War 3 might be imminent.

A global conflict might not involve every nation (hopefully), but it often includes major powers like the United States, China, Russia, or NATO countries fighting each other.

With the technological advancements, the potential use of nuclear weapons in such a conflict is a significant concern for many.

A news.com.au report has compiled a list of countries that might serve as safe havens for various reasons.

The list was created by analyzing data from the Global Peace Index, considering factors like geography, military alignment, neutrality, distance from potential targets, civil-defense infrastructure (e.g., shelters), and basic resilience such as food/energy.

However, it's important to note that no one can predict the future, so it might be wise not to make any travel plans just yet.

The countries included, in no particular order, are:

Switzerland

Switzerland is known for its military neutrality, and its mountainous terrain makes a land invasion challenging.

Additionally, the country is well-prepared for potential nuclear threats, with more bunker space than its population and readily available filtration and power systems.

Iceland

This nation has no standing army and few critical targets outside of aviation routes.

It boasts a strong renewable energy sector, utilizing its volcanic landscape to be almost entirely powered by geothermal and hydro-electric resources.

Argentina

Argentina is quite distant from the tensions in Europe, North America, and Asia, which could be advantageous. Moreover, its extensive farmland ensures good food security if global trade collapses.

Madagascar

A vast nation that is somewhat isolated due to not being physically connected to the African continent. This natural separation makes it less attractive for large-scale conflict, and its limited infrastructure diminishes its strategic importance.

Paraguay

Another country with minimal strategic significance, but it has a thriving agriculture industry, allowing it to be self-sufficient.

Mongolia

One might think that being situated between Russia and China could be challenging during a major conflict, but Mongolia has minimal strategic importance and remains a largely self-sufficient nomadic nation.

Fiji

Located thousands of miles from Australia, Fiji is quite isolated and holds little value in wartime. It possesses its own infrastructure and food resources, making it remote yet habitable in the event of a crisis.

New Zealand

With a small population spread over a vast area of agriculturally rich land, New Zealand is an excellent choice. Its remoteness and capacity for food self-sufficiency make it a low-priority target.

Many countries remain safe havens in the event of war, so it might be wise to consider them, just in case any of these nations become involved in a global conflict.
