According to a new poll, voters seem eager for Trump to face a third impeachment

A recent poll has highlighted Donald Trump's lack of popularity, with a notable number of people supporting the president's impeachment.

Trump is one of three presidents to have been impeached by the House of Representatives for accusations of abuse of power and obstruction of Congress, and he is the first president in US history to be impeached twice.

His initial impeachment in December 2019 was linked to a phone conversation with Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, where he allegedly proposed military aid in return for an investigation into his political adversary, Joe Biden.

He was acquitted in February 2020 after a Senate trial.

Following the January 6 Capitol riots, Trump's second impeachment unfolded, with accusations of inciting an insurrection against the government. He was also acquitted of this charge in February 2021.

Recently, a new poll has shown that a surprising number of voters would back another impeachment.

The Lake Research Partners poll, commissioned by Free Speech For People, surveyed likely voters for 2026 in swing Congressional districts and found that nearly half (46 percent) support impeaching Trump, with 45 percent expressing 'strong support' for impeachment.

Additionally, 56 percent of respondents said they disapprove of Trump's performance as President.

The polling firm stated: "It is remarkable and, as far as we know, unprecedented for such a large proportion of voters in swing districts to support the impeachment of a president in the first year of their term.”

These figures emerge as Constitutional lawyers leading the Impeach Trump Again campaign have identified 25 reasons for impeaching the president, including the following:

Trump 'threatens war' and employs military force in US cities

During the summer, Trump ordered a federal intervention in local policing in Washington, D.C., by directing the National Guard to patrol the streets to combat crime and remove the homeless from the city.

A month later, he shifted his focus to Chicago, ominously stating the city would 'find out' why he renamed the Department of Defense to the Department of War.

Following criticism, Trump later clarified his stance, saying: "We're not going to war. We're going to clean up our cities."

'Hollowed out' federal agencies and 'attack' on adversaries

The group further claims that Trump has dismantled key nonpartisan federal agencies, such as the Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, turning them into 'tools of oppression and of his own agenda'.

Recently, federal prosecutor Erik Siebert resigned under increasing pressure from the President, who had stated he wanted 'him out' for refusing to prosecute two of Trump's political opponents, New York Attorney General Letitia James and former FBI director James B. Comey.

Trump then announced the appointment of his former defense attorney Lindsey Halligan, who lacks experience in the role, to replace Siebert.

He also publicly encouraged his Attorney General Pam Bondi to prosecute his adversaries, including James, Comey, and Senator Adam Schiff.

Critics view the case as an act of 'revenge' due to the president's ongoing conflict with Comey, who, as the FBI director, conducted an investigation into Trump's campaign connections with Russia.

Meanwhile, James is accused of mortgage fraud, although investigators have not found enough evidence to support the charge.

This development follows James's successful civil fraud case against Trump last year.

'Ongoing First Amendment Attacks' Involving Jimmy Kimmel Show

Advocates assert that Trump has 'persistently attacked the First Amendment,' pointing to his recent attempt to 'censor' Jimmy Kimmel's late-night show by threatening to sue ABC affiliates that broadcast it.

The controversy began when the TV host commented on the assassination of Charlie Kirk and the reaction from conservatives, including Trump, which led to a week-long suspension.

After Kimmel's show resumed, Trump hinted at 'testing ABC out' on the issue, alluding to his earlier successful defamation lawsuit where he secured a substantial settlement from the network.

Trump's Aggressive Immigration Policy

Since beginning his second term, Trump has been relentless in his efforts to crack down on immigrants and refugees.

In pursuit of this goal, the President revoked the 18th century 'Alien Enemies Act' of 1798 to advance his plan for mass deportations without legal proceedings, including deportations to El Salvador's 'mega jail'.

Earlier this month, the administration faced criticism for trying to deport unaccompanied refugee children from shelters and foster care families nationwide, prompting a federal judge to intervene and stop the order.

Increased ICE raids have sparked protests nationwide, while lawyers and human rights advocates are raising concerns about Trump's new detention center in Florida, nicknamed 'Alligator Alcatraz' due to its 'alligator- and python-infested waters'.

Furthermore, Trump has pledged to create the 'largest deportation operation' in history, with a staggering $170 billion increase in funding and a recruitment drive to support the initiative, which critics worry could become 'Trump's private army'.

'Existential moment' for the US

Courtney Hostetler, Legal Director at Free Speech For People, stated: "Trump is actively dismantling the public institutions and constitutional protections that safeguard our democracy.

"His assault on the Constitution and the rule of law are intentional, and they are impeachable. Congress cannot stand idly by.”

John Bonifaz, President and Co-Founder of Free Speech For People, stated that Trump's actions represent a 'critical moment for our nation and democracy.'

"We either uphold the Constitution, or we do not."

"Donald Trump has already committed numerous abuses of power. We call on our elected officials in Congress to fulfill their oath to defend the Constitution at this crucial time by advocating for impeachment proceedings against this lawless president.”
