The couple is reportedly residing in separate homes in Nashville, Tennessee, with one partner still hopeful for their marriage.

Nicole Kidman and country singer Keith Urban have parted ways nearly two decades after getting married.

The Oscar-winning actress has been separated from the 57-year-old 'since the beginning of summer', according to TMZ reports.

Sources close to the publication indicate that Kidman is hopeful about preserving their marriage, and the Australian is reportedly not in favor of the separation.

The couple shares two children, 17-year-old Sunday Rose and 14-year-old Faith Margaret, having tied the knot in 2006.

An anonymous source from the publication mentioned that Kidman is 'keeping the family united during this challenging period since Keith's departure' - the BBC has confirmed the source's comments.

It is noted that 'Keith has purchased his own home in Nashville and has left their shared family residence', which is also believed to be located in Nashville, Tennessee.

The couple is believed to have separated 'since the beginning of summer'.

Although the reason for their split remains unclear, in July, the 'You'll Think of Me' hitmaker reportedly ended the call while appearing as a guest on Mix 102.3, an Australian radio station, with Hayley Pearson and Max Burford on their morning show.

During a discussion about Kidman's recent movie A Family Affair, Burford remarked: "When I was thinking of something to ask you, Keith Urban, if you play this game, the first thing that came to mind was your beautiful wife Nicole Kidman being in so many great movies, TV shows all the time… I recently watched a movie with her and Zac Efron, A Family Affair."

For the segment, Burford continued: "What does Keith Urban think when he sees his beautiful wife with handsome younger men like Zac Efron in these beautiful love scenes on TV and radio?"

Urban's end of the line then went silent, abruptly ending the conversation.

Confirming that Urban had been disconnected, one of the radio producers stated: "I think his team hung up on us because they didn’t want us to ask that question."

Last year, Kidman appeared in two provocative films featuring much younger co-stars, where she performed topless scenes. One of these was A Family Affair, and the other was the erotic thriller Babygirl.

The Hawaii-born Kidman portrayed Romy, who found herself in intense situations with Samuel, played by Harris Dickinson.

During a press conference for the film, Kidman described how filming the sex scene left her feeling 'ragged' at times due to the 'radically long takes'.

She told The Sun: "There was a great deal of sharing and trust, followed by frustration. It's like, 'Don't touch me'.

"There were moments during filming when I felt, 'I don't want to orgasm anymore'.

"Stay away from me. I hate doing this. I don't care if I am never touched again in my life! I'm over it.

"It was so constant for me that it felt almost like burnout."
