Sean Penn was interviewed about his latest projects 24 hours after the shooting
Sean Penn gave a six-word response regarding the assassination of Charlie Kirk, amidst controversial remarks from other celebrities about the political commentator's death.
Kirk was assassinated on September 10 while attending an event at Utah Valley University as part of his Turning Point USA comeback tour.
The 31-year-old activist was shot fatally in the neck, and the shooter quickly fled the scene. Less than two days later, police announced that they had apprehended a suspect and identified Tyler Robinson, 22, who has since been charged.
Penn discussed his latest project, One Battle After Another, directed by Paul Anderson, with Vanity Fair 24 hours following Kirk's assassination.

The actor, known for sharing his political opinions, stated that he was 'not surprised at all' by Kirk's killing.
"Like many, I've been concerned that such horrors were becoming trendy," he added.
"It's unsettling enough that I'm still processing it, along with its implications."
Penn has been vocal in the past, describing Donald Trump's Covid-19 response in 2020 as making it feel like 'vulnerable communities were being targeted from the White House'.
Several individuals have faced backlash for their remarks following Kirk's death earlier this month, including Dwayne Johnson's daughter, Ava Raine, who was criticized for reposting a message believed to subtly reference the activist.
And there's the entire Jimmy Kimmel incident, who has since been reinstated by ABC.
Michael Keaton's remarks stirred controversy after he commented on the 'irony' of Kirk being shot, likely due to his pro-gun stance and heated debates against gun control.

During his complete statement at the Investigative Reporters and Editors’ 50th anniversary gala earlier this month, Keaton seemed to honor Kirk and the family he left behind while discussing gun violence.
"Before we delve into the main topic, I want to take a moment to say that, despite my likely — not likely — disagreements with many of his views, Charlie Kirk leaves behind a wife and two children," the actor stated.
"It's important to remember that. Because ultimately, shooting people solves nothing, and the fact that he was killed with a gun is incredibly ironic."
