Lola Young was performing in New York at the time

Singer Lola Young has addressed the incident where she collapsed during a live performance in New York.

The 24-year-old British artist, who gained fame last year with her viral hit 'Messy' on TikTok, was performing at the All Things Go NYC Music Festival on Saturday (September 27) when the incident occurred.

Footage from fans captures Young pausing her song 'Conceited' and signaling to her team off-stage. Moments later, she begins to stumble and collapses, leading band members to quickly assist her.

After being helped off the stage, musician Remi Wolf took over, describing the incident as 'really f***ing scary' and reassuring everyone: "My friend Lola is backstage, and she is okay."

Now, Young has provided fans with an update following the incident.

Hours later, Young herself updated fans through Instagram Stories, stating: "Hi, for anyone who saw my set at All Things Go today, I am doing okay now. Thank you for all of your support. Lola xxx."

The incident occurred just a day after Young had already withdrawn from another scheduled event. On Friday (September 26), her manager Nick Shymansky announced that she would not be performing at Audacy’s We Can Survive concert in New Jersey, due to concerns for her wellbeing.

“Unfortunately, due to a sensitive matter, I have advised Lola Young to withdraw,” Shymansky explained.

"Lola is very open about her mental health, and there are occasionally days where my team and I must take protective measures to ensure her safety.

She is an incredible person who always takes her fans, career, and performances seriously. I can only express sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused.”

Now, turning to Instagram to address the concerning experience, she shared how 'disappointed' she felt about having to withdraw from the concert.

"I'm sorry to confirm that I won't be playing All Things Go in DC today," she wrote.

"I love this job and never take my commitments and audience for granted, so I apologize to those who will be disappointed by this. I hope you'll give me another chance in the future."

"Thank you to everyone who listens and cares. To those who enjoy being mean online, please give me a break. Lola."

Young herself acknowledged that she wasn't in a good mental state before stepping on stage in New York, as she confessed to the audience during the same performance:

"I wanted to perform and not dwell on my sadness. Sometimes life gives you lemons, and you've just got to make lemonade."

Young has been open about her struggles with schizoaffective disorder, which she was diagnosed with at 17. In an interview with The Telegraph, she described it as feeling like 'a bottle overflowing', explaining that while she can sometimes sense episodes coming, other times they appear suddenly.

Her next performance is scheduled for October 6 in Manchester, England.
