Rebecca Ferguson described her experience filming Mission: Impossible with Tom Cruise as both 'thrilling' and frustrating

Tom Cruise has been referred to as a 'man-child' by a former co-star, who has revealed what it was truly like to work with him on set.
Rebecca Ferguson, who appeared alongside the Hollywood icon in three Mission: Impossible films, shared how filming with him was never straightforward, describing the unpredictable and sometimes chaotic experience with the 63-year-old action star.
The 41-year-old joined the franchise in 2015 as the beloved Ilsa Faust for Rogue Nation, and continued to film alongside Cruise for the next two movies.
Now that her time on the production has ended, she explained that working on those large blockbuster sets could feel like venturing into the unknown every day.

“You don’t have scripts and have no idea where it’s going to go,” she mentioned to The Times. "You train for a stunt scene for months and suddenly they cut it."
The Swedish actor disclosed that the unpredictable nature of production often left cast and crew scrambling to keep up - and Cruise’s boundless energy added another layer of chaos to the situation.
"[Cruise is] a man-child in a good way," Ferguson remarked. "I often joke that there’s someone with a tranquilliser gun and a net looking for him."
She recounted one particularly hectic shoot, saying: "It’s frustrating because you’re ready to shoot and the sun’s going down. Tom goes, 'what are we waiting for?’ and I go, ‘you!’, and he laughs and goes, ‘f**k, I’m sorry'."
Despite the turbulent conditions, Ferguson has never denied Cruise’s charisma on set - describing how his enthusiasm often kept spirits high, even when things were falling apart around them.

Her portrayal of Ilsa Faust concluded dramatically in Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One, a choice Ferguson supported.
"There was nothing more to explore with Ilsa," she stated. "It seemed like the right time to move forward."
Since then, Ferguson has focused on new opportunities, collaborating with Steven Knight on the upcoming film The Immortal Man, only to later find out he’s also writing the next James Bond installment.
"I would have been eager to play the villain," she confessed. "We haven’t seen a female Bond villain yet."
She’s even suggested the idea to Denis Villeneuve, who is reportedly set to direct the next chapter of the spy series.
"I already mentioned it to Denis - ‘female Bond villain, b***h’,” she laughed.
