Donald Trump proposed using cities like Chicago as 'training grounds' for the military
Donald Trump has caused a stir with his ambitious plans for the nation, which include deploying the military.
Trump emphasized that the military will play a crucial role in his future plans for the country.
During a speech on Tuesday (September 30) to military leaders, Trump asserted that the US is facing internal conflict and that he would resolve the issues across America.
He mentioned that he is redirecting the military to support law enforcement within the country and went on to commend the National Guard troops in D.C.
This refers to the work they started in August this year. 1,700 National Guard soldiers were deployed nationwide, primarily to assist ICE and the Department of Homeland Security.
He also criticized Democrat-led cities and indicated plans for changes.
He stated: “They’re very unsafe places, and we're going to straighten them out one by one.”
"This will be a significant issue for some people in this room. It's also a war, an internal battle. Securing the physical territory of our border is crucial for national security. We can't allow these individuals to enter."
Most concerningly, he claimed that the country was ‘under invasion from within,’ and these remarks have not been well-received on social media.
Trump continued: “After spending trillions of dollars defending the borders of other countries, with your support, we’re now protecting our own borders.”
He also stated he informed Secretary of War Pete Hegseth: "We should use some of these dangerous cities as training grounds for our military — National Guard, but our military, because we’re heading into Chicago very soon.
"It's a large city with an incompetent governor."
A Twitter user argued that Trump was ‘embarrassing’ the nation with his statements.
They remarked: “Are you all watching this Trump speech to military leaders? It’s a slurring, nonsensical, low-energy, rambling embarrassment for the United States.”
Another person said: “I can't stand to watch; it's so appalling even from the clips.”
Surely there will be a backlash within the military? Surely????”
A third individual commented: “He truly is AMERICA's SHAME.....The fact that people around the world are watching this is such a humiliating embarrassment.”
Another added: “It’s a ridiculously high bar, but Trump’s speech to all the US Generals today might be the most insane moment of either of his presidencies.”
A fifth person simply commented: “It’s embarrassing.”
In his speech, Trump also gave a subtle warning to Russia and China, asserting that the US is more than twenty years ahead of both countries in nuclear submarines.
He stated: “We were somewhat threatened by Russia recently, so I deployed a nuclear submarine, the most lethal weapon ever created.
“Firstly, it is undetectable. There’s no way. We are 25 years ahead of Russia and China in submarines.
“Honestly, if it ever comes to that, we have more than anyone else. We have better, we have newer, but it's something we hope to never have to consider."
