The results were quite unexpected

A woman has astonished many with the results of her year-long experiment on her iPhone's battery.

Despite being surrounded by technological wonders every day, one persistent annoyance has been present since the advent of this technology.

And that is simply your phone running out of battery.

Fortunately, as technology has advanced in the smartphone era, batteries now charge faster and tend to last longer, even as we use these pocket-sized supercomputers for a variety of tasks.

However, when it comes to Apple, the company has gained a somewhat negative reputation for the battery life of their iPhones.

This is an issue they have been working on over the years.

Nonetheless, fans still complain that it's not quite sufficient, leading them to try various methods to extend their battery life.

One popular method is avoiding charging the battery fully to 100 percent or continuing to charge it once it reaches full capacity.

Although iPhones are widely popular, they are frequently criticized for their poor battery life

In fact, on the Apple iPhone 14 and its newer models, you can set a charge limit ranging from 80 percent to 100 percent.

To determine if this positively affected battery health, an iPhone 16 Pro Max owner shared that she conducted an experiment to see if maintaining the limit at 80 percent was advantageous.

Posting on the Mac Rumors forum, the owner described how she initially performed the experiment with an iPhone 15 a year ago before repeating it with the iPhone 16 Pro Max.

She mentioned that she only charged her phone to 80 percent and tried to prevent it from dropping below 20 percent, using a combination of wireless and USB-C charging.

The woman stated that after the year-long experiment, she believed her battery health was average

She remarked: “It was fine at home, but when I was out and wanted to use the camera or needed GPS, the battery often wasn’t sufficient.”

Presenting her findings, she noted that her battery health was at 94 percent capacity after 299 charge cycles.

She concluded that this was about average, regardless of charging habits.

She added: “I now have two years of data with my ‌iPhone‌ limited to an 80 percent charge, and I don’t think it’s been worth it.

“My coworker, who also has a 16 Pro Max, didn’t have an 80 percent charge limit set, and his battery capacity is 96 percent with 308 charge cycles.”

The woman concluded by saying that she has now purchased an iPhone 17 Pro Max and will attempt another year-long charge limit test.
